Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts is hosting a memorial art exhibition titled “Tumi Robe Nirobe” exhibition featuring. Late Artist Khalid Mahmood Mithu and Artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on March 30. Prominent Artist Rafiqun Nabi and Renowned Art Critic Moinuddin Khaled graced the occasion being the special guests.
The exhibition is showcasing the artworks of renowned filmmaker and artist late Khalid Mahmood Mithu along with the artworks of famous artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma. Late artist Khalid Mahmood Mithu was a star personality in the media and cultural perspective of Bangladesh. His contribution in photography, film making, visual art and literature enriched the art and culture of Bangladesh. Khalid Mahmood Mithu won the national award for producing his film ‘Gohine Shobdo’ which was released in 2010.He was a multitalented personality with immense knowledge of creativity, which reflected into his artistic efforts since his student life at Faculty of Fine Art at University of Dhaka. In the other end, Kanak Chanpa Chakma is an eminent visual artist, who has extraordinarily expressed her talent in terms of visualizing the culture, lifestyle and social norms of the people from the indigenous communityliving in the hill tracts and scattering parts of Bangladesh. Late artist Khalid Mahmood Mithu and artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma led their conjugal life together until the demise of Mithu.
The following exhibition has been organized to commemorate the memories of late Khalid Mahmood Mithu through his artworks. In the exhibition, a total number of 55 artworks will be displayed- 33 artworks of artist late Khalid Mahmood Mithu and 22 artworks of artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma.
The exhibition will run from 30 March-20 April, 2019.
